Officials Destroyed 500kg of Paneer After Palwal Inspection
Officials from the Chief Minister Flying Squad (CMFS) in Faridabad, the Food Safety Department and local police inspected Talim Dairy in Khaika village, in Palwal district, on Thursday. The operation followed information received by the CMFS about the suspected use of adulterated or other substances in paneer production at the unit, which is within the Bahin police station area.
The inspection team was led by DSP Vivek Chaudhary of the Faridabad CMFS. Palwal Food Safety Officer Ishwar Kumar and local police personnel also took part. Paneer production was in progress when the team arrived, and officials found roughly 500kg of finished product on the premises.
The dairy operator, identified as Talim and described as a resident of Khaika village, was asked to show the required licence and registration documents. Officials said he produced a valid registration from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, or FSSAI.
Despite the reported registration, the inspection determined that the ready paneer was not fit for consumption. Officials also found the hygiene conditions at the facility unsatisfactory. Under the supervision of the Food Safety Officer, the products were removed from circulation by being buried on the premises.
A pit was prepared with the help of a JCB machine. Approximately 500kg of paneer and 100kg of milk were placed in it and destroyed. The action took place before the products could enter the market, according to the inspection report.
The Palwal operation followed a separate enforcement action in the Gurgaon region. On September 11, authorities seized nearly 7,600kg of suspected synthetic paneer during overnight raids on several units along the Gurgaon canal in Gondola village and at another unit in Nai.
Reports cited in connection with those raids alleged that the products were made from combinations of skimmed milk, palm oil, vegetable fats and soya paste. Paneer is produced by both organised dairy companies and smaller processing units in India. The inspections in Palwal and Gurgaon involved authorities examining production practices, ingredients and compliance at dairy facilities.
