The European Dairy Market Observatory has published its findings from recent analyses in the sector, showcasing differentiated behaviors in the prices of milk and its derivatives, as well as associated costs related to feed and energy. For February 2025, the average milk price in the EU was 53.8 cents per kilogram, reflecting a 0.6% increase from January 2025 and a 16% rise compared to February 2024. The forecast for March 2025 predicts a slight decline to 53.7 cents per kilogram (-0.3%).
Internationally, New Zealand saw a positive adjustment in milk prices, reaching 41.5 cents per kilogram in February, up by 0.3% from January 2025. Conversely, in the United States, there was a 1.5% decrease, bringing the price to 48.4 cents per kilogram for the same period.
In terms of dairy derivatives in the EU:
- Butter: Prices solidified at 739 euros per 100 kg, showing a 0.3% rise over the last 4 weeks.
- Skimmed Milk Powder: Registered at 248 euros per 100 kg, marking a 0.6% decrease.
- Whole Milk Powder: Priced at 435 euros per 100 kg, with a reduction of 0.4%.
- Cheddar: Prices stood at 460 euros per 100 kg, representing a 2.4% drop in the same period.
