Willow Tree Farm, located near Northallerton, North Yorkshire, has implemented changes to reduce clinical mastitis cases among their 265 Holstein cows. Managed by Howard and Tom Pattinson, the farm operates year-round calving and milks twice daily using a herringbone system. The farm's efforts to improve cow comfort and increase space have led to a decrease in somatic cell counts, a common measure of milk quality and cow health.

The Pattinsons' strategy focused on enhancing the living conditions for their cattle, which included expanding the space available to each cow.
