Nestlé Will Replace Región Plata with Cono Sur Unit

Nestlé is reorganising its management structure in the southern part of South America. From January 1st 2027, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay will cease operating under the configuration known as Región Plata and will become a single unit called Cono Sur. The new regional headquarters will be in Chile.

The change was communicated internally on Wednesday and was subsequently reported by Chilean newspaper Diario Financiero, which obtained an internal company document. Rodrigo Camacho, currently chief executive of Nestlé Chile, will become head of the regional operation. He will retain his base in Chile.

Nestlé has not yet set out the internal design of the new unit. The available material does not specify whether the reorganisation will alter factories, brands or staffing levels in the four countries. People close to the company said that an assessment of how the combined operation will function will take place in the coming months, before the new structure takes effect.

The Cono Sur unit follows other regional reorganisations by Nestlé in Latin America during 2026. Peru, Colombia, Ecuador and Bolivia were brought together under an organisation called Región Andina. The company also extended the same type of consolidation to Central America and the Caribbean earlier in the year.

Chile has nine production facilities and more than 7,000 employees. The company has also recently announced a $300m investment plan for the country. Those figures form part of the operating context for the decision to locate the new unit’s headquarters there.

The change will place four national operations under one regional management structure from 2027. It is the next stage of Nestlé’s move towards regional groupings in Latin America, while specific arrangements for the Cono Sur countries remain under review.
