According to data released on April 1, 2025, approximately 105,348 animals have been impacted. The total livestock population in Queensland is estimated at 13.3 million, including 2.7 million sheep and 713,000 goats.

The disaster also caused significant damage to rural infrastructure:

  • Around 3,100 kilometers of fencing have been destroyed or flooded,

  • Approximately 7,000 kilometers of private farm roads were damaged.

Representatives of Queensland’s livestock sector warned that the consequences of the disaster could be catastrophic for farmers, particularly for large-scale cattle operations suffering massive livestock losses, disrupted logistics, and the risk of localized food shortages.

Industry analysts estimate that months or even years may be required to restore infrastructure, compensate losses, and stabilize the agricultural sector—depending on the scale of destruction and weather conditions in the coming weeks.
