Nearly a Ton of Milk Produced Per Belarusian Annually — Ministry of Agriculture and Food
According to Maria Klimova, Deputy Head of the Main Department of the Processing Industry of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, the level of self-sufficiency in milk and dairy products in the country reaches 292%, which is nearly three times the national demand. In comparison, the average rate for European Union countries is about 117%.
"We not only fully supply the domestic market but also successfully export dairy products. Every fourth kilogram of milk produced is sold abroad," Klimova emphasized.
The Belarusian dairy sector model demonstrates sustainable development and high efficiency. The average milk consumption in the country is 247 kg per person, which is four times less than the production volume.Belarus also ranks first in the world for the consumption of whole milk products — 118 kg per person per year, and second in butter consumption — 5 kg per year, second only to New Zealand (6 kg).
The level of food self-sufficiency in Belarus is 96%, and for certain types of food products, it is significantly higher.

Meat and meat products: 140% self-sufficiency (production of 147 kg per person with consumption of 103 kg).

Milk and dairy products: 292%.
The export of Belarusian dairy products covers dozens of countries, including Russia, China, Kazakhstan, as well as Middle Eastern states.
"By 2025, the agro-industrial complex demonstrates progressive development. We confidently maintain positions in international markets and continue to strengthen Belarus's reputation as a country with a high level of food security," noted the Ministry of Agriculture and Food representative.
