In a significant move for dairy farmers in the Malabar region, the Malabar Regional Co-operative Milk Producers’ Union (MRCMPU) of Milma has raised the procurement price of milk by ₹2 per litre.
This increase will be effective for three months starting June 1, coinciding with World Milk Day.
The hike in procurement price will see the cost of milk rise from ₹45.95 to ₹47.95 per litre. This change is set to benefit approximately one lakh dairy farmers across six districts: Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod. These farmers are affiliated with 1,200 primary Anand-model dairy cooperative societies.
Alongside the price increase, MRCMPU has also announced the extension of a ₹250 cattle feed subsidy for another three months. This extension is designed to further support the dairy farmers by reducing their operational costs and enhancing overall profitability during these challenging times.
This strategic decision reflects Milma’s commitment to supporting the local dairy community and ensuring the sustainability of dairy farming in the Malabar region.
