Milky Mist Commissions Yogurt Facility in Tamil Nadu

Milky Mist Dairy Foods has brought a dedicated yogurt manufacturing facility into operation at its integrated processing campus in Perundurai, Erode district, Tamil Nadu. The expansion adds capacity for packaged cultured dairy products, including Greek yogurt, stirred yogurt and other fermented formats.

The plant uses automated processing and packaging equipment, European fermentation technology, fruit-preparation systems and high-speed aseptic filling machinery. Its production design covers several product types, from traditional set curd and flavoured stirred yogurt to thick Greek yogurt and drinkable probiotic beverages.

According to the report, the equipment is designed to limit manual contact during production. The stated purpose is to maintain microbiological controls and provide consistent texture, firmness and flavour during the products’ shelf lives.

The facility also includes automated clean-in-place sanitation systems, lower-energy refrigeration equipment and wastewater-recovery loops. These systems are connected to the campus’s zero-liquid-discharge effluent-treatment infrastructure.

Milky Mist sources milk directly from thousands of dairy farmers in western Tamil Nadu. The company’s value-added dairy range includes Greek yogurt, fruit yogurt and probiotic products, alongside its liquid-milk operations.

The new capacity will be supplied through Milky Mist’s owned cold-chain network, which includes hundreds of refrigerated vehicles. The company uses that network to serve hypermarkets, quick-commerce fulfilment stores and conventional retail outlets equipped with chilled display facilities.

The commissioning forms part of Milky Mist’s focus on value-added dairy products. The report links demand for cultured dairy to consumer interest in gut health, post-workout protein and convenient food formats, while describing premium fermented dairy as a growing segment in India.
