Mead Johnson Wins Key Legal Battle in Infant Formula Case

A jury in St. Louis, Missouri, has delivered a verdict in favor of Mead Johnson, a subsidiary of Reckitt and the manufacturer of Enfamil, by completely dismissing a lawsuit filed by a mother from Illinois. The plaintiff claimed that the company's infant formula for premature babies was directly responsible for her child developing necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC), a serious condition with a mortality rate exceeding 20% due to the death of intestinal tissue.

This verdict is seen as a pivotal moment in the specialized dairy formula industry, which has faced nearly 1,000 similar lawsuits.
