Müller relaunches next generation initiative to enhance supply chain resilience and reduce emissions
Launched in 2018, the Müller Next Generation initiative is a three-year program designed for Müller farmers aged 25-40. The program aims to equip 25 ambitious young farmers with the skills and support needed to develop sustainable and profitable dairy businesses.
This initiative is a key component of Müller's broader Sustainability Action Plan, which targets a 30% reduction in emissions on supplying farms by 2030. The program emphasizes environmental stewardship, animal welfare, responsible sourcing, and minimizing environmental impact.
Richard Collins, Head of Agriculture at Müller Milk & Ingredients, stated: "As we work to create a better future for the dairy sector, we need to continue to tackle carbon emissions, secure the next generation of talent, and drive supply chain resilience."
Participants in the program will benefit from tailored workshops, farm visits, keynote speakers, and site tours at Müller facilities. Key focus areas include the environment, sustainability, leadership, market analysis, succession planning, marketing, and business improvement.
Müller operates through two main divisions: Müller Milk & Ingredients and Müller Yogurt & Desserts. The company sources milk from 1,300 farmers across Britain and produces a wide range of branded and private label dairy products.
"We know from the first two cohorts that there are many dairy farmers in the UK with great talent and passion for the industry, and we're excited to welcome applications for the next round of future elite dairy farmers," added Collins.
The application process for the third cohort of Müller Next Generation is open until July 26, 2024, with the first meeting scheduled for autumn.
