Lincoln County Delays Decision on Large Dairy Expansion Permit
The Lincoln County Planning & Zoning Commission has temporarily delayed the decision regarding a conditional use permit for a significant dairy expansion. Milk & Honey Holdings, LLC and Cedar Lane Dairy, LLC aim to develop a 6,200-head dairy operation. This proposal has drawn significant attention from local residents, many of whom expressed concerns about potential environmental impacts, including air and water pollution, as well as increased noise and traffic from heavy trucks.
At a recent commission meeting, several landowners, including farmer Jason Vandentop, voiced their objections. Vandentop revealed that his land was listed as part of the company's manure management plan without his consent or prior notification. This has added to the community's apprehensions about the project.
The delay in the decision is meant to allow for further review and discussions regarding the project's impact on the local environment and infrastructure. The commission's decision is pivotal for the future of the dairy operation, which seeks to expand significantly in the region.
