This landmark deal was showcased at a tasting event hosted by Stephen Jones, Lidl's local store manager in Haverfordwest, and Mark McQuade, Managing Director of Pembrokeshire Creamery.
As of June 1, 2024, customers at Lidl stores across Wales can purchase these authentic Welsh milk products, with plans to expand the range to include cream.
Pembrokeshire Creamery, the only BRCGS accredited liquid milk facility in Wales, has seen a £20 million investment, supported by a grant from the Welsh Government. This funding has been instrumental in establishing a state-of-the-art bottling facility that has created 80 new jobs and will serve as a cornerstone for local employment and economic growth in Haverfordwest.
The collaboration between Lidl and Pembrokeshire Creamery is a testament to Lidl's commitment to bolstering Welsh agriculture and supporting the local economy. Richard Bourns, Chief Commercial Officer at Lidl GB, emphasized the importance of this partnership in providing customers with premium, locally-sourced dairy products. Meanwhile, Mark McQuade of Pembrokeshire Creamery highlighted the efficiency and local benefits of this new supply chain.
This initiative is part of Lidl's broader strategy to promote Welsh agriculture and includes other local products such as bread, butter, yoghurt, eggs, lamb, and beef.
