Lidl Ireland Lowers Prices on Own-Brand Dairy Products

Lidl Ireland has made another strategic move to lower prices on its own-brand dairy products, effective from March 26, 2023. The supermarket chain announced its decision to reduce the price of its own-label milk and butter, offering significant savings to consumers. This price cut is part of Lidl's broader initiative to provide value to its customers, continuing from its previous price reductions on bread and milk.

The price adjustments mean that a standard 2-litre carton of milk will now retail for €2.25, while the cost for a 454g block of Irish Creamery Butter will decrease from €3.39 to €2.99. Lidl's move reflects decreasing commodity costs in the international market, which have allowed the company to pass savings directly to shoppers.

In a statement, Robert Ryan, CEO of Lidl Ireland and Northern Ireland, emphasized the company's commitment to maintaining competitive prices and supporting Irish agriculture. He stated, "At Lidl, our longstanding commitment to our customers is that we won’t be beaten on price, and we’re proud to once again lead the market by dropping the price of milk and butter, passing savings directly on to our shoppers."

Lidl Ireland's focus on supporting local producers is evident in its procurement activities, having surpassed €2 billion worth of products and services from Irish suppliers in 2025. Of this, €70.5 million was attributed to dairy suppliers, showcasing the company's ongoing relationship with the local agricultural sector.
