Kovalus Separation Solutions to Close Massachusetts Manufacturing Facility

A company known for its filtration technology in the dairy and life sciences industries, Kovalus Separation Solutions, will shutter its Massachusetts manufacturing facility in the fall. According to a notice filed with the state, 80 employees will be laid off at the Wilmington facility between October 15 and December 1. Kovalus, founded in the 1960s and previously known as Koch Separation Solutions, provides various equipment for industries including food, beverage, and wastewater among others. Despite the closure, the corporate headquarters will remain at the Wilmington location. The company announced in June 2024 its plans to invest $20 million to build an assembly factory in Mexico, aiming to boost production by 50%. This strategy suggests a shift as they previously asserted that all manufacturing would persist in Wilmington.
