DSM-Firmenich has received approval to sell Bovaer in the UK

DSM-Firmenich has received approval to market its Bovaer feed additive, which reduces methane emissions in cows, in the UK.
The approval means dairy farmers in England, Scotland and Wales will be able to use the additive, which has been shown to reduce methane emissions from dairy cattle by an average of 30%. This will help the UK meet its greenhouse gas emissions reduction commitments.
The company is now building a plant to produce Bovaer in the UK to strengthen international sales. Construction is underway in Dalry, Scotland, and the plant is expected to be operational in 2025.
DSM-Firmenich plans to make Bovaer available to the UK dairy sector in early 2024. This feed additive is now available in 57 countries.
In September, the company reported that two highly successful trials of Bovaer had been completed in Italy. Tests carried out at CERZOO, a dairy farm of the Cattolic University, reduced methane emissions from cows by almost 50%.
