Russia’s Kursk Region harvests more than 3.4 million tonnes of grain
According to Khinshtein, harvesting has been completed on more than 600,000 hectares, representing over 80% of the sown area. Some land in border districts is temporarily out of use: the governor attributed this to constant strikes and the danger to the lives of people working there.
The region’s autumn sowing campaign is nearing completion. More than 50,000 hectares have been sown with winter rapeseed, while the area under winter cereals has reached approximately 300,000 hectares.
A decision has been made not to start up the sugar factory in Belovsky District. According to the governor, the plant’s entire workforce is on paid downtime, with staff costs being covered in full.
Regional authorities are redistributing sugar beet, sending it to other sugar factories in Kursk Region for processing.
Khinshtein identified grain exports as a separate problem. The region is in talks with Russia’s Ministry of Agriculture and Russian Railways (RZD) on this issue.
