The Kazakh animal feed market is experiencing a rapid surge: exports have increased 100-fold over a few years, reaching 1.7 million tons by the end of January–August 2025. According to the Committee of State Revenues of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the volume of shipments increased 2.5 times compared to the same period last year and exceeded the level of the entire year 2024 by 44.7%, reports Dairynews.today citing energyprom.kz.

Kazakh animal feed producers earned 350.5 million US dollars, which is also 2.5 times higher than last year's result. The primary export destination was China, accounting for 99.1% of all shipments. Minor volumes were sent to Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

This success was made possible by the inclusion of Kazakh enterprises in the registry of suppliers to China, opening new opportunities for long-term contracts and scaling exports.

The export growth was accompanied by a significant expansion of domestic production. In the first nine months of 2025, the production of ready-made animal feed reached 2.7 million tons, nearly matching the total for 2024 (2.8 million tons). The industrial production index in the sector reached 137.2%, confirming a steady growth trajectory.

According to the Bureau of National Statistics (BNS) of the ASPiR RK, the key regions for production remain the North Kazakhstan, Kostanay, and Almaty regions, which account for 65.9% of output. In the Kostanay region, feed production increased 3.6 times over the year, while in the North Kazakhstan region it rose by 89.4%.

Interest in the industry is growing: over the past two years, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan has actively supported projects for the construction and modernization of enterprises.

In January, the Black Biotechnology corporation launched a plant for the production of feed additives and fertilizers in the Almaty industrial zone, with a capacity of 6,000 tons per year, exporting up to 40% of its products to Argentina, Brazil, China, and Vietnam.

In the summer, construction began on a feed meal plant in the Zhambyl region (project capacity — 120,000 tons per year, launch — spring 2026). Additionally, within the next two years, the launch of three enterprises with a total capacity of 48,000 tons of premixes and 300,000 tons of compound feeds is planned with the participation of investors from Hungary.

According to BNS, from January to September 2025, the production of ready-made animal feed in monetary terms amounted to 186.9 billion tenge, and the physical volume production index reached 135%.
The growth is associated not only with the increase in the production base but also with the active development of export infrastructure and diversification of raw material supplies.
