Kazakhstan and China Strengthen Cooperation in Agriculture: $1 Billion Agreements Signed

Negotiations between leading food and agricultural companies of Kazakhstan and China were held in Beijing under the chairmanship of Kazakhstan's Minister of Agriculture, Aidarbek Saparov.
Kazakhstan and China Strengthen Cooperation in Agriculture: $1 Billion Agreements Signed
The event brought together over 70 participants, including 30 Kazakh and 40 Chinese companies representing the agro-industrial complex, according to Dairynews.today, citing the press service of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Agriculture.

Minister Saparov emphasized that China is one of Kazakhstan's key external economic partners. The majority of Kazakhstan's exports to China consist of grains, oilseeds, and vegetable oils.

“Kazakhstan is among the top 10 global wheat exporters and ranks first in flour exports. Last year, grain shipments to China increased 5.5 times, reaching 1.4 million tons. In the near future, exports are expected to rise to 2 million tons,” the minister noted.

In the first nine months of 2024, Kazakhstan had already exported 1.1 million tons of grain to China.

The Kazakh side invited Chinese companies to invest in the development of high-tech and environmentally friendly production in the agricultural sector. Special attention was given to opportunities for exporting organic products, as well as high-quality livestock products, including beef, lamb, poultry, canned meat, dairy products, and honey.

Results of the Talks: $1 Billion in Contracts
The meeting culminated in the signing of memorandums and agreements worth a total of $1 billion. Key outcomes include:

Agreements to expand exports of grain and oilseeds by Kazakh companies

Aitas.kz signed a $100 million contract to export poultry products.
