Kazakhstan and France Sign Roadmap for Cooperation in the Agricultural Sector
The negotiations took place during the working visit of the Kazakh delegation to France. The parties discussed expanding mutual trade in agricultural products, investment cooperation, the exchange of modern technologies, as well as prospects for collaboration in breeding and seed production.
Aidarbek Saparov noted that France remains one of Kazakhstan's key partners among European Union countries.
"We highly value the friendly nature of bilateral relations and are interested in further strengthening cooperation in the agricultural sector. Today, Kazakhstan is undergoing a consistent modernization of the agricultural sector, with a focus on implementing modern technologies, developing processing, increasing labor productivity, and expanding export potential. In this regard, France's experience and expertise in agriculture are of particular value to us," the minister emphasized.
By the end of 2025, the trade turnover of agricultural products between Kazakhstan and France amounted to $103.2 million. The main share of Kazakhstan's exports consisted of soybeans, ethanol, essential oils, natural shellac, and sunflower oil.
The Kazakh side also declared its readiness to supply horse meat and honey to the French market.
Special attention during the meeting was given to investment projects in the agri-food complex. Major French companies, including Lactalis and Danone, are already operating in Kazakhstan. Their projects are aimed at modernizing production facilities, implementing advanced processing technologies, and expanding the production of high-value-added products.
Annie Genevard, in turn, confirmed the French side's interest in further expanding the partnership with Kazakhstan in the agricultural sector, including breeding, seed production, and other areas.
"We view these documents as an important practical step aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation, developing new areas of cooperation, and forming a long-term partnership. I am confident that the implementation of the roadmap's provisions will facilitate increased contacts between relevant agencies, business communities, and scientific organizations, as well as promote the expansion of mutual trade, technology exchange, and the implementation of joint investment projects in the agricultural sector," concluded Aidarbek Saparov.
