Japanese Dairy Farm Expands to India

A long-established dairy farm operator from Japan's Chiba Prefecture is gearing up to make its mark in India, a nation home to over 1.4 billion people, where the demand for dairy products has always been robust.

This spring, the Japanese company will launch an integrated facility in Bengaluru, incorporating everything from dairy farming to product manufacturing. Leveraging advanced technologies for remote management from Japan, the company aims initially to market high-end products, like gelato, to luxury hotels, enhancing their brand's value.

President Hidetake Akiba of Akiba Bokujo sees this expansion as more than just business. He aspires to disseminate Japanese dairy farming know-how to improve production efficiency in India, potentially liberating children from labor to pursue education.

Last month's cautions from the Japan Dairy Council about the decreasing number of domestic dairy farmers elevate the necessity for Akiba's international ventures as critical.

"This is a positive and bright story," commented a dairy council official, reflecting hope that this endeavor could pave the way for increased collaboration between Japanese and Indian dairy farmers in joint projects.
