Italian Co-operative Granarolo Acquires UK Dairy Supplier West Horsley Dairy

Granarolo S.p.A, an Italian co-operative known for its substantial presence in the dairy industry, has completed the acquisition of West Horsley Dairy Ltd, a wholesale supplier based in Surrey, UK. Founded in 1992, West Horsley Dairy has been serving a wide range of industries, including food catering, schools, and restaurants, across the South East and South West of the UK.

The strategic acquisition is part of Granarolo's global growth strategy and aims to enhance its operations within the UK, complementing its existing business with Midland Chilled Foods. Granarolo is a major player in the dairy sector, with 23 production plants, over 2,500 employees, and a presence in 80 countries worldwide.

Philip and Catherine Colton, the founders of West Horsley Dairy, expressed their confidence in the future success of the business under Granarolo's leadership, highlighting the cultural and historical synergies between the two companies. The acquisition process was coordinated with the assistance of TheNonExec Limited, Steele Raymond, and Rothmans on the sell-side, while TC Group and Birketts advised Granarolo.

This acquisition marks a significant step for Granarolo as it continues to expand its footprint in the international dairy market, leveraging West Horsley Dairy's established client base in the UK.
