Ishida’s acquisition of National Packaging Systems in 2024 will be highlighted at Propak Cape, an exhibition for Africa’s food and non-food industries. The companies will exhibit together on stand D1 in Hall 1 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from 27 to 29 October.

Ishida plans to introduce two products to the African market at the event. They are the Inspira system for packing snacks and a machine for producing stick packs and sachets. The display will also include examples from Ishida’s multihead weighing and X-ray inspection lines, alongside three machines from NPS’s filling and packaging portfolio.

NPS is based in KwaZulu-Natal and has supplied filling and packaging equipment for more than 40 years. Its machines on display will include the 34S Vertical Form, Fill & Seal bagmaker, which handles powders, granules and liquids. The machine can be configured with different filling systems and packaging formats, and is presented as an efficient and durable option.

The stand will also feature NPS’s multilane Vertical Sachet machine, which fills several sachets at once. Its overmounted, servo-driven auger fillers are intended to control filling weights consistently. The semi-automatic A1 Auger Filler will be shown for powder products including milk powder and soya blends. A semi-automatic Basculating Volumetric Filler will demonstrate portioned filling for liquids and solid foods.

Ishida will display the recently launched CCW-AS, its highest-specification multihead weigher. The equipment is designed to combine high weighing speeds with weighing accuracy and consistency close to 100%. Ishida says it can reduce product giveaway, raise output and improve overall equipment effectiveness, while using 20% less energy. Melika Seiderer, Ishida’s general manager for Africa, said the NPS acquisition had improved African food and non-food businesses’ access to Ishida’s automation equipment.
