Irish dairy innovator Dairy Concepts strikes major deal with Marks & Spencer
Based in Fermoy, Dairy Concepts will produce a new high-protein, gluten-free dairy snack branded as M&S Cheese Clouds. Positioned as a healthier alternative to conventional snacks like crisps or nuts, these products will feature a minimum of 98% cheese content and offer 8g of protein per 20g serving. Using an innovative vacuum cooking process, the snacks will be shelf-stable, eliminating the need for refrigeration and simplifying export and packaging logistics.
The partnership with Marks & Spencer signifies a significant milestone for Dairy Concepts, validating its commitment to innovative product development, high operational standards, and exceptional product quality. The company anticipates a substantial increase in production volume as a direct result of this agreement, prompting the hiring of five additional staff members at its Moorepark headquarters, bringing the total workforce to 24 employees.
Tom Brennan, CEO of Dairy Concepts, emphasized the partnership's role in supporting Irish farmers and contributing to the growth of the local dairy industry. He highlighted the strategic importance of value-added dairy snacks in expanding domestic and international market presence.
Looking ahead, Dairy Concepts and Marks & Spencer plan to expand their collaboration further, with upcoming launches including new flavor variants and larger pack sizes scheduled for early 2025. Eddie Murphy, representing Marks & Spencer Ireland and Northern Ireland, underscored the retailer's commitment to enhancing partnerships with Irish suppliers, delivering quality Irish products across their network.
Despite recent financial challenges, including accumulated losses, Dairy Concepts remains optimistic about its future prospects, buoyed by strategic partnerships and innovative product offerings that cater to evolving consumer preferences for nutritious, convenient snacks.
This partnership not only strengthens Dairy Concepts' market position but also underscores its commitment to sustainable growth and innovation within the dairy snack sector.
