Indonesia Expands Dairy Export Market with Inaugural Shipment to Vietnam
The Ministry of Agriculture of Indonesia has announced the successful export of processed dairy products to Vietnam, marking an important step in the country's dairy industry. This move is seen as a testament to the global competitiveness of Indonesia's dairy sector, which has shown steady growth in recent years.
The first shipment to Vietnam included yogurt products valued at $65,000. This development underscores Indonesia's expanding reach in the Asian dairy market, where it already exports to countries like Hong Kong, the Philippines, and Thailand. The Philippines has emerged as the largest destination for Indonesian dairy products.
According to I Ketut Wirata, Director of Veterinary Public Health, the exports are crucial for ensuring domestic milk absorption and stabilizing prices for farmers. The cumulative data from veterinary certificates between 2023 and 2026 indicate that national product exports have surpassed 11.9 million kilograms, with a total value reaching $15.3 million.
Bayu Triprasetyo, Dairy Manufacturing Director at PT Cisarua Mountain Dairy, emphasized the importance of government support in maintaining product quality and facilitating exports. The Ministry of Agriculture plays a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with global standards through veterinary supervision and certification processes.
The initiation of exports to Vietnam is part of a broader strategy to enhance Indonesia's dairy sector competitiveness and expand its presence in international markets. This aligns with Indonesia's ongoing efforts to achieve milk sufficiency by 2029.
