"This investment from Brazil will bolster our efforts to achieve self-sufficiency in meat and dairy production," Sulaiman stated on Friday.

The partnership, marked by a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between PT Asiabeef Biofarma Indonesia and Brazil's Agropecuaria 31 (31 Group), aims to reduce Indonesia's reliance on beef and dairy imports by expanding domestic livestock production on a large scale.

"This initiative will also generate new employment opportunities across various sectors within the livestock industry," the minister added.

Following discussions with Brazil's Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Carlos Favaro, Sulaiman noted that several prominent Brazilian companies have expressed strong interest in Indonesia's livestock sector, indicating potential future agreements.

The bilateral talks between Indonesia and Brazil took place after the G20 Agriculture Ministerial Meeting in Chapada Dos Guimaraes, Brazil.

Sulaiman emphasized that the Indonesian government remains committed to transforming the agricultural and food systems through a comprehensive approach. He highlighted Indonesia's previous successes in achieving rice self-sufficiency from 2017 to 2021, as well as surpluses in corn, shallots, palm oil, chicken, and eggs in recent years.

With the global population projected to reach 8.6 billion by 2030, Sulaiman stressed the importance of strategic actions to increase food production while conserving natural resources.
