India will soon reconsider its position on GM corn
In India, under pressure from industry lobbyists, the fight for the use of GM components in animal feed is gaining momentum. Sujit Komarla, director of the Komarla Group, notes greater acceptance of GM crops.
"I see the government reconsidering its position on GM corn, at least in the next few years," he said.
According to Sujit Komarly, ethanol producers are also putting pressure on GM corn. The Confederation of Indian Industry has also called on the government to relax regulations on GM feed crops to support the poultry sector, which is currently facing record high feed prices.
