Ice Cream Alliance invites UK makers to enter 2027 Golden Scoop Awards
The awards follow their first edition in 2026 and are open to ice-cream makers of all sizes. The competition is intended to give entrants the opportunity to receive assessment from industry specialists, obtain feedback on their products and compete for national recognition.
Entries will be judged without the makers’ identities being disclosed. The panel will assess three elements: appearance; texture and body; and flavour and palatability. Each class will be awarded to the product with the highest aggregate score from the judges.
Eligible products may also receive a rating of between one and five stars. The organisers say businesses can use the rating as an independent quality mark on packaging, menus, websites, social-media channels and other marketing materials.
All entrants will receive detailed comments from the judging panel. The feedback will identify product strengths and areas where judges believe improvements could be made, providing practical information to participating businesses regardless of whether they win a class.
Class winners will receive promotional materials and support intended to help them communicate their achievement to customers and the media. Catherine McNeil, the Ice Cream Alliance’s director of operations, said the awards put products before respected industry experts and recognise the skill and care involved in making each scoop.
McNeil also encouraged both established producers and businesses that have entered the industry recently to participate. The final categories and complete compositional requirements for 2027 are due to be published through the Golden Scoop Awards website. Registration information, competition rules and updates are available at goldenscoop.co.uk.
The deadline for entries is 1 December. The winners will be announced on 16 March 2027.
