Hindustan Zinc Hosts Advanced Breed Calf Exhibition Under Samadhan Project

Hindustan Zinc, in collaboration with BAIF, recently hosted a notable rally and exhibition showcasing advanced breed calves in Malikheda. This event was part of the Samadhan Project, which is focused on elevating the income of farmers by significantly enhancing livestock quality and productivity in the neighboring villages.

The main objective of the initiative is to improve the economic conditions of the farmers by improving the genetic quality of the livestock and enhancing productivity. As part of this effort, Hindustan Zinc organized this comprehensive event where advanced breed calves born through artificial insemination were showcased.

This event was not just an exhibition but also an educational summit. Experts conducted various awareness sessions for farmers covering crucial topics such as deworming and vaccination schedules, timely artificial insemination for breed improvement, proper animal nutrition and maintenance, and disease prevention strategies.

One of the highlights of the exhibition was the evaluation of 20 high-quality calves that were born using artificial insemination techniques involving premium breeds like Gir, Sahiwal, Holstein Friesian, and Murrah Buffalo.

Significant participation from over 40 livestock farmers, including a notable presence of women farmers, was seen at the event, indicating the growing interest and involvement of the community in such developmental projects. Hindustan Zinc's ongoing breed improvement programs, through methods like artificial insemination, promise continued improvement in livestock breeds around the Rajpura Dariba region. These efforts aim to double the farmers’ income and align with the national goals for agricultural and livestock upliftment.

The Samadhan Project has been instrumental in empowering farmers across 36 villages in the Railmagra block, fostering sustainable agricultural and livestock development over the past decade. Key achievements include 8,491 artificial inseminations, 2,516 successful livestock births, and engaging 1,800 farmers in a Farmer Producer Organization. These efforts have played a pivotal role in strengthening the agricultural framework in the region, directly contributing to the national goal of doubling farmers’ income.
