Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has been declared India’s wealthiest chief minister, with assets valued at over ₹931 crore, according to a report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR). However, a significant portion of this wealth—approximately 82%—is attributed to his wife, Bhuvaneswari Nara, and her substantial stake in Heritage Foods Ltd, a dairy company she leads as vice chairperson and managing director.

Bhuvaneswari Nara: Leadership at Heritage Foods

Bhuvaneswari Nara, 65, has been at the helm of Heritage Foods since 1994, guiding the company’s operations and overseeing its growth. She joined the company as a whole-time director shortly after it was established in 1992. Under her leadership, Heritage Foods has grown into one of India’s prominent milk and dairy product retailers, going public in 1994 and expanding its footprint across the country.

With a Bachelor’s degree in Arts, Bhuvaneswari also serves as a director in multiple companies. She has been instrumental in shaping Heritage Foods’ strategic direction, focusing on operational efficiency and market growth.

Her family is deeply involved in the business. Her daughter-in-law, Brahmani Nara, who is married to Naidu’s son Nara Lokesh, has been an executive director of the company for over a decade, contributing to its expansion and development.

The Wealth Connection

While Chandrababu Naidu himself does not own shares in Heritage Foods, his wife’s 24.37% stake in the company—valued at approximately ₹763 crore—forms the bulk of the wealth attributed to him in the ADR report. This has raised interest in the role Heritage Foods plays in the family’s financial standing and Naidu’s overall wealth profile.

Heritage Foods has been a key player in the Indian dairy industry since its inception. The company’s ability to maintain robust growth and its presence on the stock exchange has significantly contributed to the valuation of Bhuvaneswari’s stake, further enhancing the family’s wealth.

Heritage Foods: A Legacy in Dairy

Founded in 1992, Heritage Foods has established itself as a major player in India’s dairy industry. The company produces and markets a wide range of products, including milk, butter, yogurt, and other dairy-based offerings. Its listing on the stock exchange in 1994 marked a significant milestone, paving the way for further expansion and financial growth.

The leadership of Bhuvaneswari Nara and the involvement of other family members, like Brahmani Nara, have solidified Heritage Foods as a family-driven enterprise with a strong reputation in the market.

A Wealthy Legacy

The ADR report has placed the spotlight not only on Chandrababu Naidu but also on the significant role his family’s business interests play in defining their wealth. Bhuvaneswari Nara’s pivotal role in Heritage Foods underscores her contribution to the family’s financial success and the company’s stature as a leading player in India’s dairy sector.

As Heritage Foods continues to thrive, the intersection of politics, business, and family legacy in Andhra Pradesh remains a point of interest and discussion.
