Haverfordwest Creamery Achieves Significant Wins at Global Cheese Awards

First Milk's Haverfordwest Creamery has achieved notable success at the International Cheese & Dairy Awards, the world's largest cheese show. The creamery, part of the farmer-owned First Milk cooperative, secured four major trophies, contributing to the cooperative's total of 26 awards. This includes eight gold medals, 11 silver medals, one bronze medal, and six major trophies.

The awards won by Haverfordwest Creamery include the CHR Hansen Trophy for Champion Double Gloucester, the Tetra Pak Tebel Award for Best Extra Mature Creamery Block Cheddar, the ICDA Award for Best Medium Creamery Block Cheddar, and the First Milk Past Masters Trophy. These accolades underscore the quality and consistency of cheese production at the Haverfordwest site.

The International Cheese & Dairy Awards attracted the highest number of entries in recent years, with some cheddar classes receiving between 30 and 40 entries. First Milk received recognition in various cheddar and regional cheese categories, such as Double Gloucester, Red Leicester, Welsh cheese, vegetarian cheese, and English creamery cheddar.

Jack Eade, Customer Quality Manager at First Milk, highlighted the dedication of the teams across the business, stating that the awards reflect their hard work and passion. He emphasized the importance of the commitment from farmer members producing high-quality milk and the skilled teams at creameries who transform it into award-winning cheese.

This achievement continues First Milk's long-standing record at the International Cheese & Dairy Awards and reinforces Haverfordwest Creamery's reputation as a leading producer of award-winning British cheese.
