Mother Dairy's Managing Director, Manish Bandlish, praised this move as it places all their products under a zero or five per cent tax slab, potentially boosting consumer consumption. "This is a very good step for both companies and consumers," he stated.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating, "People will save money on about 99% of daily use items," highlighting the positive impact on household savings and the commencement of the 'Bachat mahotsav' celebration. He urged people to use more 'swadeshi' products in their daily lives.

The reforms, coming into effect on Monday, were part of Prime Minister Modi's 'GST Bachat Utsav,' aimed at reducing tax burdens during festival seasons. Essential items like UHT milk, Indian breads, and pre-packaged paneer will now attract NIL tax rates, while goods such as soap, shampoos, and tableware will have a reduced tax rate of 5%.

During a public event in Itanagar, Prime Minister Modi described the GST adjustment as a "double bonanza." He promoted 'swadeshi' products and met with local entrepreneurs, encouraging the use of domestic goods. Shopkeepers in the capital expressed enthusiasm for these changes, and some received 'Swadeshi' placards to display proudly.
