Graham's Dairy Recalls Milk Due to Antibiotic Contamination

Graham's Family Dairy, based in Stirlingshire, Scotland, has initiated a recall of certain batches of its semi-skimmed milk after discovering contamination with veterinary medicines, including antibiotics such as penicillin. The Food Standards Agency has warned that the affected milk may pose a health risk, particularly to individuals with allergies to antibiotics.

The recall targets Graham's semi-skimmed milk sold in one pint, one litre, and two litre containers, all marked with a use-by date of July 31. Customers who have purchased these products are advised not to consume the milk and to return it to the point of purchase for a refund.

In an official statement, Graham's emphasized the importance of product quality and consumer safety, stating, "This is a precautionary measure we have taken as there is a small risk a trace level of antibiotics may be present in the milk which could cause a reaction to consumers with an allergy to antibiotics."

Graham's Family Dairy has reassured customers that no other products or use-by dates are affected by this recall. The company has expressed regret over the incident and is offering further information and support through its website.

Founded in 1939 in Bridge of Allan, near Stirling, Graham's has been a staple in the Scottish dairy industry. The company has urged consumers to reach out with any queries they might have regarding the recall.
