GormalOne's NITARA Revolutionizes India's Dairy Sector with AI Technology
GormalOne, founded by former wealth manager Manish Jain, has introduced NITARA, a precision agriculture platform designed to support India's dairy farmers. Over 11 years were spent researching the challenges faced by the dairy sector in India, which produces over a billion liters of milk daily. The platform offers data-driven tools to help increase productivity and income for approximately 80 million smallholders.
Jain's journey from finance to dairy began in 2006, leading to the creation of GormalOne, after witnessing the sector's potential and challenges. The platform initially faced issues with data input, prompting a pivot to a comprehensive data collection system that involves vets, para-vets, animal health techs, and other stakeholders.
NITARA's standout feature is its AI-driven image recognition that reads genetic codes from cattle insemination straws, tracking bull identity and outcomes automatically. This technology also generates personalized nutrition plans and management alerts, minimizing manual input from farmers.
Beyond genetics tracking, NITARA includes early-disease diagnostics from milk analysis and a multilingual AI assistant, Gauguru, to aid farmers in their native language. The platform, while moving towards monetization, keeps basic access free, aiming to transform dairy productivity and income outcomes.
