GHMC Seizes 2,500 kg of Suspected Adulterated Curd in Amberpet
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has confiscated 2,500 kilograms of curd suspected of adulteration in a recent raid at a dairy unit located in Amberpet. This operation is a segment of an ongoing campaign to combat food adulteration within the city.
The raid was executed at NNR Enterprises in Rahatnagar following credible information regarding the production and sale of adulterated curd. GHMC Food Task Force teams, with the assistance of local police, conducted a surprise inspection, leading to the seizure of the stock. Samples from the confiscated curd have been sent to a laboratory for rigorous testing to determine the presence of adulterants or substandard ingredients.
The dairy unit was reportedly operated by two individuals, identified as Nare and Raghavendra, who have been running the unit for approximately six months. Post-raid, a case was registered by the Amberpet Police, initiating an investigation into the manufacturing practices at the dairy facility. Authorities are awaiting the test results before taking further action.
This incident is part of a broader crackdown on adulterated food products in Hyderabad, which has included the seizure of 300 kg of rotten meat and 1,090 kg of chemically treated ginger-garlic paste in other parts of the city earlier this week.
Officials have noted that the enforcement drive, which has been ongoing for two months, has led to multiple arrests related to the production and distribution of unsafe food products, including fake ghee and substandard dairy items. The use of synthetic colors, chemicals, and low-quality raw materials in unhygienic conditions has been identified as a common practice among offenders.
Authorities confirmed the continuation of special enforcement drives to ensure all food products sold meet safety standards and do not pose risks to public health.
