The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has appointed George Francis Tidmarsh, M.D., Ph.D., as the Director of the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER). Dr. Tidmarsh, a Stanford University graduate with over 30 years of experience in biotechnology and clinical medicine, will oversee efforts to ensure the availability of safe and effective drugs in the U.S. "Dr. Tidmarsh is an accomplished physician-scientist," says FDA Commissioner Marty Makary. Tidmarsh has notably participated in the development of seven FDA-approved drugs and has been pivotal in bridging translational research to clinical practice.
