Fife Council Addresses Odor Complaints from Graham's Dairy in Cowdenbeath

Residents in Cowdenbeath have lodged complaints with Fife Council regarding a persistent and unpleasant odor originating from Graham's Dairy plant. Locals have described the smell as 'disgusting' and 'awful', raising concerns about its impact on nearby homes.

In addition to the odor, contamination has been reported on a public footpath adjacent to Glenfield Industrial Estate. Residents claim these issues have persisted for several weeks.

Rob Bowditch, the service manager with environmental health at the council, stated, 'We're aware of a complaint about water running onto the pavement and road at Perth Road, Cowdenbeath, adjacent to Graham's Dairy.' He noted that during a recent visit, an officer recorded a small amount of water on the pavement along with a slight odor.

Graham's Dairy has been proactive in addressing the issue. Operations manager Sean Dorrian explained that the problem was identified and rectified swiftly with the help of Algo, the contractor responsible for the building's construction. Dorrian confirmed, 'It has now been repaired, and there is nothing going onto the road at all.'

This is not the first time the Cowdenbeath community has raised concerns about the plant. Previous complaints have involved noise and light pollution.

Efforts to resolve the current situation appear to be ongoing, with Fife Council maintaining regular communication with Graham's Dairy to monitor progress.
