The European Commission is poised to remove bourbon whiskey and dairy products from its draft list of counter-retaliatory tariffs targeting the United States.

Barry Cowen, Fianna Fáil MEP for Midlands North-West, who has reviewed the updated proposal, confirmed that the change – expected to be finalized by the Commission later this week – follows extensive internal discussions and lobbying efforts from several Member States, including Ireland.
Concerns raised by MEPs and national governments, particularly from Ireland, France, and Italy, regarding the potential strategic and economic impact on European producers have led to the removal of U.S. bourbon, wine, and dairy from the list of affected goods.
