Energy Crisis Alters Ukraine's Condensed Milk Market
According to analysts from 'Infagro', in February, consumers increasingly opted for dairy preserves because they do not require refrigeration and offer a longer shelf life. This has boosted domestic demand for condensed milk.
Meanwhile, production is facing serious technological constraints. Producing condensed milk requires a continuous power supply, and unstable electricity delivery disrupts production processes and reduces operational efficiency.
An additional pressure factor was the reduction in external sales. In January 2026, the export of dairy preserves fell to one of the lowest levels in the past year — weaker figures were only recorded at the end of winter 2025. Manufacturers have accumulated significant stockpiles, and market participants expect February to also be a weak month for exports.
Despite these factors, prices in the domestic market remain relatively stable. Natural condensed milk is sold in the wholesale segment at established levels, while products with milk fat substitutes are offered at lower prices. In export markets, products made according to the classic recipe maintain a price premium.
According to market participants, the condensed milk segment remains economically attractive, and producers will strive to keep prices stable despite energy constraints and reduced export activity.
