Egypt extends possibility of importing dairy products without Halal certificate until the end of 2025
On September 19, 2024, Egypt decided to extend the period during which milk and dairy products can be imported into the country without a Halal certificate until December 31, 2025. This was reported in a letter from the Federal Center "Agroexport" under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.
Previously, this deadline was set until the end of 2024.
According to experts, the decision of the Egyptian authorities will provide exporters with the opportunity to avoid additional time and financial costs. The procedure for obtaining a Halal certificate remains quite complicated and is currently only possible through the Egyptian body IS EG Halal. In Russia, there is no system yet that could issue certificates recognized in Egypt.
Roman Chubak, manager for interaction with government authorities at Soyuzmoloko, noted that extending this deadline will allow companies to continue exporting dairy products to Egypt on more favorable terms.
