Dinesh quits IT and rides Rapido to study dairy demand
Dinesh comes from an Odisha family that operates a dairy farm. According to a LinkedIn post by Varun Raj, he wants to expand that business and eventually create a dairy-products brand of his own.
After leaving his IT position, Dinesh moved to Bengaluru and started working as a Rapido rider. Raj said he met him during a ride on a Monday morning, when Dinesh asked which dairy items he bought besides milk.
The exchange, as described by Raj, reflected Dinesh’s approach to market research. He asks passengers about the dairy products they consume, the items they already purchase and the products they might consider buying.
Dinesh pays particular attention to conversations with IT professionals during rides. The work provides him with an income while giving him regular contact with potential customers, according to Raj’s account.
He has allowed himself roughly one year to collect information about consumer preferences and refine his plans. Once that period ends, he intends to return to Odisha and apply what he has learned to the family’s dairy operations.
Raj’s post attracted attention on LinkedIn, where users commented on Dinesh’s direct approach to customer research. The account said he was gathering responses through daily interactions rather than relying only on market reports and surveys.
