Digital Transformation in Indonesia’s Dairy Sector
In Malang, East Java, a collaboration between the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and the International Labour Organization (ILO) has kicked off the Dairy Ecosystem Digitalization Programme. This initiative is a part of the Promise II Impact project, supported by SECO of Switzerland, focusing on making financial systems more inclusive for small enterprises and cooperatives in rural areas. Hasan Fawzi from OJK highlights the project’s aim to provide financial access to smallholder dairy farmers via technology.

The project introduces an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, integrating dairy operations into one digital platform while connecting with credit scoring providers to aid small farmers in obtaining loans. Djauhari Sitorus, ILO's Project Manager, assures the digital ecosystem is proven to enhance productivity and financial access, as seen in trials in Pangalengan. Malang, hosting over 12,000 dairy farmers, is chosen as the pilot for this digital initiative.

The launch included discussions on implementing digital solutions in dairy cooperatives, with insights from key stakeholders in the industry. As the event concluded with farm visits, stakeholders explored how to improve the sustainability and competitiveness of the dairy sector in Indonesia.
