Darigold Reintroduces Dairy Creamers to Meet Growing Consumer Demand
Darigold, Inc., headquartered in Seattle, has announced the return of its coffee creamers to stores across the Northwest. These creamers are crafted with real dairy milk and cream sourced from family-owned farms in the region, and are available in four flavors: French Vanilla, Caramel, Hazelnut, and Sweet Cream. The products are designed to appeal to consumers seeking natural ingredients, as they are free from oils and artificial flavors and are lactose-free, making them suitable for a wider audience.
According to Darigold's vice president of marketing, Curtis Hansen, there is a significant shift in consumer preferences away from ultra-processed foods towards products with simpler, natural ingredients. This market trend is evident in the growing demand for real dairy creamers, which have outpaced non-dairy and plant-based alternatives in sales. The Northwest coffee creamer market alone is valued at approximately $275 million annually and has been growing at a compound annual growth rate of 8% over the last three years, based on data from the market research firm IRI.
Darigold processes approximately 10 billion pounds of milk annually and operates 11 production facilities throughout the Northwest. The company is owned by the Northwest Dairy Association, which comprises nearly 250 family-owned farms. With its focus on quality and natural ingredients, Darigold aims to capitalize on the current consumer trend favoring real dairy products.
Dave McVicker, chief commercial officer at Darigold, emphasized the opportunity to enhance value for farmer-owners by providing products that consumers prefer. The company's coffee creamers are high temperature pasteurized, which ensures they stay fresh longer, aligning with consumer expectations for quality and longevity in food products.
