Danone’s Silk Expands Plant-Based Protein Line in the US
Danone’s Silk brand is broadening its high-protein offerings with the introduction of Silk Protein Yogurt and Silk Protein Shakes. These new products will be available in the US starting in late June for the yogurts and from July for the shakes.
The Silk Protein Yogurt will be available in two formats: a 24oz multi-serve tub priced at $6.79 and a 5.3oz individual cup priced at $1.99. Each serving of the yogurt contains 13g of complete plant protein in the tub and 12g in the individual cups. The flavors offered include vanilla, strawberry, peach, and mixed berry, with the vanilla flavor available in the larger tub format. The yogurt is made from soy protein, providing twice the average protein content found in the US plant-based yogurt market. It also includes 4g of fiber and is a good source of calcium, vitamin D, vitamin B12, iodine, and phosphorus, without any artificial colors, flavors, or sweeteners.
Silk Protein Shakes will debut in grocery stores in chocolate and vanilla flavors. These ready-to-drink, shelf-stable shakes contain 30g of soy-based plant protein per 11.15 fl oz bottle, which is the highest protein content within the Silk range. Each shake has 2g of total sugar, 180 calories, and 5g of fiber, and is free from artificial colors, flavors, or sweeteners. The shakes are sold in packs of four for a suggested retail price of $11.99.
These additions to the Silk product line aim to meet the growing consumer demand for high-protein, plant-based options in the dairy alternative market.
