Danone, the French dairy giant, has unveiled plans for a substantial investment in its Boucherville, Quebec factory to address the increasing demand for yogurt in Canada. The company describes this as its largest investment in Canada, though specific financial details have not been disclosed.
Danone to Expand Yogurt Production Capacity in Canada

The expansion project aims to enhance the plant's yogurt tub production by 40% and boost its raw milk processing capacity by 20%. This development is part of Danone's broader strategy to support local production, as more than one in three dairy yogurts sold in Canada originate from this site.

Construction is already underway, with a new production line expected to commence operations next year. Danone is also focusing on modernizing the plant's energy usage as part of this expansion.

Frederic Guichard, president of Danone's Canadian operations, emphasized the company's commitment to local production and health through food. This initiative aligns with Danone's recent expansions in other regions, including the United States and Kazakhstan.

In the third quarter of 2025, Danone reported a 1.5% sales increase in North America, with a slight 0.3% rise in volume/mix. The company noted strong momentum in high-protein products and innovations during the quarter.
