Danone Invests €20 Million to Boost Skyr Production in Normandy

Danone has announced a significant investment of €20 million aimed at enhancing its Skyr production capacity in Normandy, France. This investment is scheduled for completion by 2026 and will focus on upgrading two historic production sites: Ferrières-en-Bray and Le Molay-Littry.

At the Ferrières-en-Bray site, which is considered the birthplace of Danone Skyr in France, the company plans to install two new production lines, increasing the site's Skyr production capacity by more than 80% by 2027. Meanwhile, the Le Molay-Littry facility will begin producing Skyr for the first time, thanks to the integration of new processing technology and equipment. These upgrades at Le Molay-Littry are also expected to help reduce the facility's carbon footprint.

This investment is part of Danone's broader strategy to modernize its manufacturing footprint in France and relocalize 45,000 tonnes of product in the country by 2026, with Normandy playing a central role in these efforts. Danone has highlighted the strong momentum in high-protein dairy segments, including Skyr and kefir, which contributed to a 2.7% like-for-like sales increase in the first quarter of 2026.

Apart from expanding capacity, the investment underscores Danone's commitment to local sourcing and regional partnerships. The company, which has been operating in Normandy for over a century, relies exclusively on locally sourced French milk.
