Dairy Adulteration Crackdown: Haryana Vows Zero Tolerance

In response to a growing public health concern, Haryana's Health Minister, Aarti Singh Rao, has declared a zero-tolerance policy towards the sale of adulterated food products, with a strong focus on milk and sweets. This directive comes especially during the festive season when demand for these products spikes, and illicit traders may exploit the situation.

In 2025, from January to August, the Food and Drug Administration Department collected 1,289 food samples, out of which 302 failed quality tests. Legal actions are underway against the vendors involved. The government is implementing frequent inspections and has mandated aggressive legal procedures to ensure compliance and maintain public safety.

This campaign aims to secure a safe food environment and restore public confidence in Haryana’s food markets. Health officials are conducting surprise inspections focusing on dairies, sweet shops, and food processing factories. The state's commitment to safeguarding food quality emphasizes Haryana's prioritization of public health over commercial interests.
