China's development of two innovative genetic chips aims to transform dairy cattle breeding by enhancing milk production and disease resistance, positioning the nation as a leader in agribusiness innovation.

China has made a significant leap in dairy cattle breeding technology with the creation of two advanced genetic chips. These tools are designed to sel ect the best dairy cattle breeds for superior milk production and enhanced disease resistance right fr om their early developmental stages. Developed by the National Center of Technology Innovation for Dairy (NCTID), these chips offer fourfold faster testing and at only one-fifth of the cost compared to traditional methods. Leveraging data from 96 large-scale farms, the chips analyze genes with high sensitivity and specificity. The NCTID aims to further bolster China’s dairy self-sufficiency with localized cattle lines and functional genetic chips targeting traits like low carbon emissions and heat resistance. This positions China at the forefront of agribusiness innovation.
