Chilean Dairy Exports Decline by 6.75% as of February 2025

In a trend reversal compared to 2024, Chilean dairy product exports closed negatively in the first two months of 2025. This downturn reflects unfavorable figures due to decreased demand from major markets like the United States and the United Arab Emirates. Nevertheless, there was an offsetting increase in markets like Brazil and Peru.

According to the "Boletín de Comercio Exterior de Productos Lácteos," prepared by the Office of Agricultural Studies and Policies (Odepa) of Chile and disclosed by the National Federation of Milk Producers (Fedeleche), the total value of Chilean dairy exports reached $45.9 million, marking a 6.75% decline compared to the same period last year.

Key Destinations and Product Information

Brazil emerged as the primary destination for Chilean dairy products, representing 20.5% of total exports, equivalent to $9.4 million—a 161.3% increase from the previous year.

In the Americas, Mexico took the second spot with a 19.2% share, while the United States fell from first to third place, capturing 15.5% of the market, totaling shipments worth $7.1 million—a 23.9% drop from 2024.

Colombia accounted for 10.4% of total exports, experiencing a 17.2% decrease during this period, contributing $4.7 million to Chilean shipments.

Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates dropped from second to 13th place, reducing their share to 1.26% of the total, which equated to a 93.1% fall to $581,000.
