Chile's Dairy Industry: Colun and Soprole Lead in Milk Reception

The Chilean dairy industry shows a mixed purchasing pattern, with Colun and Soprole leading milk reception. National reception increased by 1.8% year-on-year during the first seven months of 2024.

In the ranking of milk reception by the major dairy industry in Chile, as compiled by Fedeleche based on Odepa's data, Colun and Soprole are at the forefront. Between January and July 2024, four out of nine companies recorded higher volumes compared to the same period in 2023. Nationally, milk reception increased by 1.8%, totaling 1,130.9 million liters, an interannual difference of 20.6 million liters.
Performance by Plant Colun leads with a 32.3% market share, increasing its reception by 9.1% to 365.7 million liters. Soprole-Prolesur follows with a 27.5% share, seeing an 8.3% rise to 311.5 million liters. Nestlé Chile's share fell to 11.6%, with a volume decrease of 16.3% to 131.1 million liters. Other key players include Watt’s with an 11.1% share, witnessing a slight 1.5% decline, and Quillayes-Surlat gaining 14.5%, reaching 102.0 million liters.
Grupo Lactalis and Valle Verde experienced declines, while Comercial del Campo increased its reception by 5.4%. In July 2024, industry reception totaled 133.0 million liters, up 2.1% from the previous year. Colun's July reception rose by 9.6%, Soprole-Prolesur increased by 3.9%, whereas Nestlé recorded a 13.4% drop.
