Cargill Boosts Micronutrition Capacity with Austrian Facility Expansion

Cargill Animal Nutrition & Health (ANH) has successfully finished a significant expansion of its Engerwitzdorf facility in Austria, boosting its production capabilities by 50%, reaching an annual capacity of 30,000 metric tons. This expansion is aligned with the increasing market demand for micronutrition solutions aimed at improving animal health through precision nutrition.

The expansion is a strategic move within Cargill's Micronutrition & Health Solutions business, which was established in 2024. This entity combines the expertise of Diamond V, Delacon, and Provimi, offering science-backed innovations across various fields, including phytogenics, postbiotics, enzymes, and anti-mycotoxin agents. The business has experienced consistent double-digit growth in recent years.

The upgraded facility now includes six new silos and automation that covers 90% of operations. It also features a biomass-powered heating system, underscoring Cargill's commitment to sustainability. The facility operates entirely on renewable energy, with 70% sourced from hydropower and 30% from solar energy.

Gilles Houdart, the Global Head of Micronutrition & Health Solutions, noted, "This investment enhances our ability to produce sustainably and deliver precision nutrition at scale." This strategic expansion positions Cargill as a leader in sustainable, data-driven animal nutrition, aiding the dairy and livestock sectors' transition towards more functional and resilient feed systems.
